How toilet and bathroom mobility aids can help you
January 26th, 2009Visits to the bathroom and toilet can become a struggle if you are disabled or an elderly person. To help you cope and overcome this struggle, a selection of toilet and bathing aids are available. Many disability aids are available that help a person to get in and out of a bath safely and whilst having a shower.
Some useful toilet and bathing aids are:
Toilet seats: These are made from foam, plastic and other lightweight materials to offer a soft seat for the user. Toilet seats are higher and extremely comfortable and fit perfectly over most standard toilet bowls. They are push fitted to the toilet bowl and do not require any screws or fixings.
Toilet rails and frames: Toilet rails provide an easy grip to the user whilst using the toilet. They have a spring mechanism that holds them in the up direction and provides easy gripping to the user. Toilet frames are available as portable and stationary devices to offer sturdy support to the user. They are equipped with armrests or contoured sleeves on the rails that offer good grip and have slip-resistant feet.
Shower chairs & stools: A wide range of shower chairs and stools to offer sturdy support while having a shower are available. The stools and chairs are comfortable and have drainage holes for easy flow of excess water.
Bathtub grab rails: These rails are perfect for providing firm support when getting in and out of the bath. Grab rails are easy to fit and available with padding to offer comfort.
