Bath lifts- liberation from dependency
May 4th, 2009Nobody wants to live a life dependent on others and this is especially the case when they want to enjoy a bath. Although wheelchairs and other mobility equipment can help mobility impaired people to move about independently, taking a bath can be a problem.
Bath lifts are wonderful type of disability equipment that can help disabled people take a relaxing bath without anybody else’s assistance. Bath lifts are basically seats which are temporarily or permanently fixed above the bath tub onto the wall. The seat can then be lowered or raised according to the user’s wishes.
Bath lifts are battery powered and can be used by people of all ages and all types of disability. All the user needs to do in order to use a bath lift is sit on the elevated chair and press a button which allows the user to be lowered into the bath tub. Some bath lifts also allow the user to recline the chair to enjoy a relaxing bath.
When the user is finished with the bath they simply press another button which raises the bath lift and allows the user to get out of the bath tub without assistance. Bath lifts are comfortable and available in many varieties.
